Teeth grinding (Bruxism)
Teeth grinding, professionally called bruxism, affects 10-15% of the population. Some people are not even aware of their problem, because bruxism most often occurs at night during sleep. The first sign is jaw pain upon waking, a dull headache or overload of the chewing muscles, which are significantly enlarged to the eye and touch and are also noticeably worn down by the teeth. Bruxism also has a direct impact on the quality of sleep, overall well-being and, last but not least, on the appearance of the face. At Hello Beauty Clinic, we offer a solution that effectively alleviates the symptoms of bruxism without surgery.
What is bruxism and why does it occur
Bruxism is a condition in which a person involuntarily grinds their teeth or clenches their jaw. It most often occurs during sleep, but in some people it also occurs during the day, usually as a reaction to stress or while concentrating.
The exact cause of bruxism is not always clear. The most common causes are:
- Chronic stress and psychological tension
- Sleep disorders
- Incorrect bite or dental anomalies
- Genetic predisposition
Long-term teeth grinding has serious consequences. It causes abrasion of tooth enamel, overload of the temporomandibular joint and chronic headaches, possibly neck and shoulder pain. The chewing muscles hypertrophy when repeatedly overloaded, which visually expands the lower part of the face.

BTX as an effective treatment for bruxism
The application of BTX to the masticatory muscles is one of the most effective methods of treating bruxism today. These are precisely targeted injections that temporarily weaken excessive muscle activity. The BTX preparation partially blocks the nerve signals that command the muscle to contract. The muscle stops exerting excessive force when clenching the jaw, but its basic functions, i.e. normal chewing and speaking, remain completely preserved.
BTX preparations have been applied to the masticatory muscles all over the world for many years and their effectiveness in the treatment of bruxism is supported by clinical experience. This is not an experimental procedure, but a proven solution with a predictable effect.
The result is significant relief from symptoms. Jaw and headache pain subside, sleep quality improves and overworked muscles gradually relax.
How BTX application for bruxism is done
The entire procedure is quick and is performed on an outpatient basis without the need for anesthesia. The doctor precisely locates the masticatory muscles and applies the BTX preparation into them using a thin needle. The procedure only takes a few minutes.
Discomfort/pain during the application is minimal. You can return to normal daily activities immediately after the procedure.
When will the results appear and how long will they last
The effect of BTX does not appear immediately. The muscle gradually relaxes over the course of 2 to 10 days after the application. The full result is noticeable after approximately two weeks.
The duration of the effect varies for each patient, usually ranging between 3 to 6 months. After the effect has worn off, the procedure is repeated. With regular treatment, the symptoms of bruxism gradually ease and the intervals between individual applications are lengthened.

Aesthetic effect: Narrowing of the lower part of the face
BTX application to the masticatory muscles brings a significant aesthetic effect in addition to the therapeutic effect. The hypertrophied masseter muscle (enlarged masticatory muscle), which causes a square face due to the widened angle of the lower jaw, gradually shrinks after BTX applications. As the muscle ceases to be overloaded, its volume naturally reduces. The lower part of the face becomes optically slimmer, the jaw line becomes softer and the overall shape of the face appears more harmonious.
The result does not look artificial. The face retains its natural expression and proportions, it is only without the overloaded and visually dominant masticatory muscles.
This so-called "face slimming" effect is one of the reasons why BTX application to the masticatory muscles is also requested by clients who do not suffer from bruxism but want to adjust the proportions of their face. Combining with other aesthetic treatments, such as chin shaping or jaw contouring, can provide a comprehensive treatment of the lower third of the face without any surgical intervention.
Who is BTX bruxism treatment suitable for
The procedure is suitable for clients who:
