Treatment of postoperative and post-traumatic defects and scars
As a result of accidents, burns, surgical interventions or plastic operations, various defects occur on the skin, which affect the appearance of the skin. Such defects are aesthetically undesirable and can cause physical and emotional discomfort to the wearer.
At Hello Beauty Clinic, we correct the following post-traumatic and post-operative defects:
- scars
- problematic scars - atrophic (hypotrophic)
- tissue loss after injuries
Treatment of problematic scars
A scar is formed during wound healing, when our body naturally restores skin tissue and replenishes it with new skin cells. Depending on how serious the previous wound or injury is, the scar extends into the upper or deeper layers of the skin.
The healing process of scars usually takes 3 months to a year, depending on the nature of the injury, and during this time the scar matures – that is, it softens, fades and becomes even in color with the surrounding skin. The speed and extent of scar healing is influenced by a number of factors, including genetic predisposition, body hydration and proper scar care. A pressure massage of the scars, lubrication of the scars with fatty cream, shea butter or lard should not be missing, there are also various silicone plasters available on the market that support the healing of scars.
However, there may be situations where scar healing becomes more complicated and problematic scars arise:
Hypertrophic Scars
They are formed as a result of excessive collagen production during wound healing. They differ from normal scars in that they tend to be raised above the surface of the skin.
Atrophic Scars
On the contrary, they arise as a result of tissue loss during wound healing. They tend to be flat and sunk below the level of the surrounding skin.
Keloid Scars
Similar to hypertrophic scars, keloid scars are characterized by excessive collagen production and appear significantly raised and widened. In addition, they usually extend beyond the original edge of the wound.
The correction of scars can be carried out according to the exact indication determined by the doctor, in the following ways:
- injection therapy: may include the use of corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid, or other agents to reduce the height and redness of scars.
- microneedling: we use fine needles to stimulate collagen production and thus improve the texture of the skin in the area of the scar.
- laser therapy: different types of lasers can soften the appearance of scars and improve skin texture, depending on the type of scar and the needs of the patient.
- chemical peeling: application of specific acids leading to the renewal of skin cell formation and skin smoothing.
- surgical treatment of scars: in some cases, especially if the scars are extensive and deep, surgical correction of the scars may prove necessary.
We most often combine different treatment methods to achieve the best possible scar treatment results.
Loss of tissue after injury
Atrophy or loss of tissue can occur as a result of an injury. Various methods are offered for replenishment.
One of them is hyaluronic acid fillers, which, in contrast to fine wrinkle fillers, are cross-linked hyaluronic acid. This is a very effective procedure, where we can use a precise dose of hyaluronic acid to fill the area where the own tissue is missing. A certain minus of this method is that the result does not last permanently, the hyaluronic acid is absorbed over time and the treatment must be repeated.
Another option to supplement the missing tissue volume is the transfer of your own fat - lipotransfer or lipografting. In the first phase, we remove fat from a place on the body where there is enough of it, clean it and then apply it to the desired area.
Each patient has individual needs and expectations regarding the treatment of post-traumatic defects. Our qualified and experienced team of doctors will provide you with individual care and suggest the optimal treatment option based on your specific situation
