Plastic surgery of the upper eyelids Pilsen
The eyes are the most distinctive feature of the face. They reflect our feelings, mood, individuality and state of mind. With age, the skin around the eyes loses its elasticity and sags. As a result, our eyelids droop, our eyes become optically smaller, and we look tired and haggard. Thanks to eye plastic surgery (Blepharoplasty), we can lift drooping eyelids and restore a youthful sparkle to the face.
What is Blepharoplasty
Plastic surgery of the upper eyelids, or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure in which the surgeon removes excess skin and sometimes fat pockets in the area of the upper eyelids through a simple incision. The goal of blepharoplasty is to lift the drooping eyelids and thereby rejuvenate the appearance of the eyes and the eye area. By lifting the upper eyelids, we also relieve eye fatigue and improve vision.

- we expand the field of vision and improve vision

- we will rejuvenate the appearance

Consultation before upper eyelid surgery
Eyelid surgery is a surgical procedure that is usually performed by a plastic surgeon in an operating room environment.
The first step to a successful operation is a detailed consultation with a doctor. During it, you will discuss your expectations and wishes. The doctor will analyze the condition of your eyelids and the eye area - the quality of the skin, the degree of drooping of the eyelids (ptosis) and the overall condition and proportions of the face.
In order to achieve a natural result, the procedure must be planned in such a way that it lifts the allowed lids, while not disturbing the characteristic features of your face. According to the given individual indication, the doctor will suggest a suitable surgical technique. If necessary, he can also recommend simultaneous lower eyelid surgery.
Prepare all your questions for the consultation so that you can discuss them with the doctor and make the right decision whether to undergo the operation.
"Although we sometimes encounter that eyelid plastic surgery is performed by doctors of various specialties, I am of the opinion that the most authorized person for this aesthetic procedure is a plastic surgeon. With the structure of education and the required experience, he meets all the prerequisites for the operation to take place without complications and to have the desired aesthetic result. The number of plastic lid surgeries that a given surgeon performs each year is also decisive - the more, the greater the guarantee of quality performance."

Preparation for surgery
Upper eyelid surgery is a routine matter for an experienced plastic surgeon. It is usually performed under local anesthesia, so it does not require any major preparation on the part of the patient.
To minimize bleeding, in some cases it will be necessary to stop blood thinners before surgery. You should also limit the consumption of fruit and vitamin preparations with a high content of vitamin C approximately 7 days before the procedure.
In order to improve tissue blood flow and increase the likelihood of uncomplicated healing, it is advisable not to smoke before and after surgery.
Course of plastic surgery of the upper eyelids
Blepharoplasty is usually performed on an outpatient basis without subsequent hospitalization.
Before the operation, you will come to the clinic, where a nurse will take care of you and write the necessary pre-operation documents with you.
This is followed by the drawing of the incisions by the doctor and local anesthesia.
During the procedure itself, the operator removes a pre-defined excess strip of skin with a simple cut. If needed, it will also reduce fat pouches (prolapses) and strengthen muscle parts in the eye area. The incision is made in the natural fold of the eyelid so that the scar is not visible after healing.
Finally, the surgeon sews the edges of the skin together with a fine stitch and covers them with a breathable patch.
The entire operation usually takes 60 to 90 minutes. After this, the patient leaves with instructions for home care.
Healing and recovery after blepharoplasty
Most patients do not feel any significant pain after eyelid surgery. If pain does occur, then it is possible to use common analgesics (pain relievers) available at the pharmacy.
Leave the patches on the eyes and do not soak them. They should last about a week until the stitches are removed.
We recommend icing the eye area for 3 to 4 days after surgery. Gel cooling pads, which you can prepare in the refrigerator before the operation, are suitable for this. Cool your eyes with a handkerchief for no more than 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat after 90 minutes.
Sleep in an elevated position on your back and do not lean forward during the day.
In the first days after the operation, arrange a rest regime and give your eyes relief. You should omit:
- watching television
- computer work
- fun on the phone
- reading books
Shorter walks are suitable. You can return to normal activities such as working on a computer after about a week. Physical exertion and sports are recommended 3 to 4 weeks after surgery.
If you experience bruising or swelling, don't worry, it will go away within 1 to 2 weeks. You can carefully start wearing make-up approximately 1 to 2 weeks after surgery.
After 7 days, you will come to the clinic for a check-up - the doctor will review the condition of the eyelids and remove the stitches. Pulling out the stitches does not hurt, you may feel a slight pull.
Scars after blepharoplasty
After plastic surgery of the eyelids, no scars are usually visible, or they are hidden in the natural fold of the eyelids. With proper care, the scars will soon mature and their color will blend in with the color of the surrounding skin. Scar massages will definitely help with this.
How to correctly massage scars after eyelid surgery?
- start massages 14 days after surgery
- do not pull the lids, do not run over the scars, so that the wound does not open
- press the scar with your finger and hold for about 30 seconds; then lift your finger, move to the side and repeat; gradually massage the entire scar on one and the other eyelid in this way; repeat the massage several times a day
- you can use an oily cream, e.g. medical vaseline, when massaging the scars
Scars also need to be protected from the sun. Do not expose your face to the sun at all for the first month, then protect your face with sunglasses, a visor or hat and a cream with a high protection factor (SPF 50+) for 2 to 3 months. This will prevent hyperpigmentation of scars.
Possible complications after plastic surgery of the upper eyelids
Blepharoplasty is one of the uncomplicated procedures if it is performed by a certified plastic surgeon with sufficient experience. Nevertheless, as with any operation, certain, partly temporary risks are associated with it:
- drying of the eyes or, on the contrary, excessive tearing - usually disappears within a few weeks after the operation
- increased scarring
- hyperpigmentation in the area of scars with insufficient protection from the sun
Related treatements
- lower eyelid surgery
- fillers with hyaluronic acid
- smoothing out wrinkles
- bioremodeling
Upper eyelid surgery price
The price of eyelid plastic surgery depends on the scope of the operation, whether upper and lower blepharoplasty are combined in one operation, or whether you only undergo upper eyelid surgery. The price of the operation is also affected by the type of anesthesia chosen – in addition to local anesthesia, in indicated cases, so-called analgosedation (application of painkillers and drugs for light sleep into a vein) can be chosen. You will find out your individual blepharoplasty price during a consultation with your doctor.
