Uneven skin surface, visible wrinkles or loss of elasticity are among the most common reasons why people seek aesthetic medicine. Today, several injectable methods offer solutions that smooth the skin without the need for surgery. We explain which skin-smoothing methods we offer at our clinic, how they work and which one is suitable for you.
Skin smoothing is a collective term for aesthetic procedures that improve skin texture, reduce wrinkles and restore its elasticity. Wrinkles arise from a combination of several factors, including repeated movement of the facial muscles, gradual loss of collagen and elastin, decreased hydration and the natural ageing of the skin in general.
Mimetic wrinkles, such as forehead lines or wrinkles around the eyes, respond differently from static wrinkles caused by loss of volume and tissue elasticity. That is why in aesthetic medicine several methods are often combined at once, each targeting a different cause of the problem.
At our clinic we perform skin smoothing using four main approaches.
Basic overview of the methods:
The choice of a specific method, or a combination of methods, always depends on the type of wrinkles, the condition of the skin and the client’s goal. We recommend having a suitable combination proposed directly at a consultation rather than proceeding according to a general recommendation.

BTX relaxes the tension in the mimetic muscles that, through repeated movement, create wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows or around the eyes. After application the muscle stops pulling the skin and the wrinkle gradually smooths out.
The method is particularly suitable for the upper third of the face, where wrinkles are closely linked to mimetic activity and repeated muscle movement. The result is visible within one to two weeks of application and usually lasts 3 to 8 months. We recommend BTX as the first step for clients who are primarily dealing with mimetic wrinkles rather than overall loss of skin elasticity.
A filler made of hyaluronic acid replenishes volume where the skin naturally loses it with age, and thereby also smooths wrinkles that remain visible even when the face is at rest. Typical examples are nasolabial folds, marionette lines or sunken cheeks.
Unlike BTX, hyaluronic acid does not affect muscle activity but directly fills the space under the wrinkle or fold. The result is visible immediately after the procedure and continues to change slightly over the following days. We recommend hyaluronic acid for clients who are dealing with volume loss and deeper static wrinkles, not only superficial ones.
Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments, most often obtained from salmon milt. After application they activate fibroblasts – thereby supporting collagen production and skin hydration, which improves the overall texture of the skin.
This method does not add volume to the skin; it works with the skin’s own regenerative capacity. It is particularly suitable for fine wrinkles, tired skin and sensitive areas. We recommend polynucleotides as a gentle method for clients who want to improve skin quality gradually and naturally.
Bioremodelling uses ultra-pure hyaluronic acid with a low degree of cross-linking that, after application, spreads evenly over the entire treated area. It gradually hydrates and firms the tissue while also stimulating fibroblasts to produce their own collagen and elastin.
The resulting effect combines immediate hydration with long-term firming; ideal application sites are the face, neck, décolleté and hands, as well as other parts of the body. We recommend bioremodelling for clients who are dealing with overall loss of firmness and skin tone over a larger area, not just individual wrinkles.

The best skin-smoothing results are achieved by combining several methods, because each addresses a different cause of skin ageing. BTX for the upper third of the face together with a filler for sunken areas and polynucleotides or bioremodelling with hyaluronic acid for overall skin quality form a comprehensive approach to rejuvenation.
The exact combination is always proposed by our doctor at the consultation according to the condition of your skin, the type of wrinkles and your budget. We recommend not treating the methods in isolation but having a treatment plan drawn up that logically links the individual steps.
Skin smoothing is suitable for clients with mimetic and static wrinkles, volume loss or overall tired and less elastic skin. The methods differ according to the type and intensity of the problem; a suitable combination can be found for almost every skin type.
We do not perform the treatment during pregnancy and breastfeeding or in the presence of an acute skin infection in the treated area. Before the procedure a consultation therefore always takes place, at which the doctor assesses the state of health and recommends a safe and effective combination of methods.
BTX relaxes the mimetic muscles and addresses wrinkles caused by facial movement; hyaluronic acid, on the other hand, directly replenishes lost volume and smooths static wrinkles that are visible even at rest. Both methods are often combined, because each targets a different cause of skin ageing.
All methods are well tolerated; they consist of small injections with a thin needle into the skin or muscle. In some cases hyaluronic acid and polynucleotides are applied with a thin cannula. In more sensitive areas an anaesthetic cream is used before the procedure.
With BTX and hyaluronic acid fillers one treatment is usually sufficient; with polynucleotides and bioremodelling we recommend a series of two to three treatments at intervals of four to six weeks.
The effect of BTX usually lasts 3 to 8 months. Hyaluronic acid fillers last 6 to 18 months depending on the type of preparation and the treated area. The effect of polynucleotides and bioremodelling lasts approximately 6 to 12 months.
Yes, polynucleotides and bioremodelling are often used preventively from around the age of thirty, when collagen production naturally begins to slow down. BTX is applied preventively in clients who want to prevent mimetic wrinkles from deepening before they become pronounced.
